Staying Calm In Stressful Situations

Hey welcome back to my blog!

I’m pretty sure most of you have been following the currently situation happening in the UK and world right now and if not where hell have you been hiding!? Time to share that secret spot… All jokes aside to be completely honest with you I don’t really want to talk about that one Pacific subject in particular. But saying that;

Having muscular Dystrophy a progressive muscle wasting disease, it’s been hard over the past couple of weeks to sometimes not feel extremely anxious, stressed and nervous about the future. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in feeling that way. I’m worried emotionally, physically – As I’m sure most of you are feeling the same or can even add to my list! However, it had me thinking about everyone else and his really staying as calm as we can in this situation.

IT’S GOING TO BE OKAY

First off I’m going to start by saying that everything is going to be okay. This is definitely something I wish someone would say to me! Just remember we’ve all come this far in life with many ups and downs in life so getting through this chapter we can all definitely do.

We are the only ones in control of us and what we do no one else so by making sure your doing everything you can and remembering you can’t control what others do. We have no way of really knowing what the future holds so it’s definitely a tricky situation. But whatever happens know that you can get through anything.

FOCUS ON SOMETHING ELSE

Try focusing your mind on something else even if it’s for 5 minutes. Do something that you enjoy or love, for me it’s putting my favourite tune on and bopping away on my chair I may look rather ridiculous at that time but I don’t care in those few moments. No matter how stressful the situation is finding that one thing that relaxes you is a win.

Some people find that watching a movie, TV show or reading a book you find yourself getting lost in that movie or book forget what’s going on around them, what matters is, It’s about doing something that you truly enjoy for that moment of time.

APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE

Stressful situation you tend to focus and only see the negatives but try to find a positive. Even if your struggling to find any be grateful and appreciate what’s around you it’s easy to forget unless you stop and look, because it might not be that case for others. I’ve always said and believed that there is someone always worse off than I am as crazy as that sound living with muscular dystrophy.

IT’S ONLY TEMPORARY

Let’s not beat round the bush the whole saying let’s “Stay Positive” can be a real eye rolling moment especially when everything around you feels like it’s falling apart but whatever your situation is, just know it’s only temporary and you’ll be able to come out the other side whether it’s a couple of weeks or months down the line.
